What is Galentine’s Day?

Galentine’s Day, traditionally celebrated the day before Valentine’s Day on February 13, is a way to honor the incredible women in our lives. This once-fictional holiday is thriving and all about honoring the special bonds of female friendship.

It’s a way to celebrate the supportive, empowering relationships. And it shares similarities with its neighboring holiday like sharing cards and gifts. It’s a way to say “I love you” to the women you’d want to grow old with in a retirement community and eat cheesecake with on a lanai.

Galentine’s Day first appeared in a 2010 episode of Parks and Recreation. The main character, Leslie Knope, described it as a day for “ladies celebrating ladies.” Over time, it has evolved into a widely celebrated event, resonating with women who value the importance of friendship and community. For runners, this holiday perfectly aligns with the spirit of camaraderie that defines running friendships.

Why Celebrate Galentine’s Day 2026 with Your Running Friends

For runners, Galentine’s Day is a great time to say thank you to your running squad. They share in your post-run celebrations at brunch. They know your PR’s and when to motivate you to crush them. These are the friends who spend hours with you on those long runs sharing topics you can’t talk about with your non-running friends. (Spoiler: we talk a lot about our stomach issues). It’s a special bond that’s hard to describe.

Whether it’s through thoughtful Galentine’s Day gifts or engaging in fun Galentine’s Day activities, this day is perfect for strengthening the bonds within your crew.

Inspirational Books for Female Runners

Share a book filled with motivational stories or practical tips for running inspiration, like Let Your Mind Run, written by one really bad ass gal, Deana Kastor.

Make a Galentine’s Day Gift Pack

Give gifts that can pamper your gal pals with a small gifts pack! Include small items like candies and pampering items. We all know skincare for runners is important. These gifts will pamper your running gals after the run!

  • Shower Steamers These shower steamers are so refreshing. Drop a tablet in the shower and let the scent enhance your shower experience. It comes in scents like eucalyptus and jasmine.
  • Gua Sha Tools – Help pamper your bestie with a Gua Sha stone. I love how this tool can help alleviate sinus pressure and helps me breathe a little better (perfect for runners).
  • Eye Masks – I am a huge fan of these moisturizing under eye masks from Grace + Stella. You can find them here on Amazon.
  • Aquaphor Gloves – As a runner, I get so many gifts to pamper my feet. In the winter I love gifts that can pamper my hands! These Aquaphor hand masks help repair and moisturize dry hands.
  • Fun Makeup AccessoriesThese eyeshadow pencils from Julep Beauty have been a game changer for quick morning looks! I recommend trying two and using them as an accent and depth color options.

Or buy a few items you can separate into smaller gift bags to give them a sample pack of your favorite pamper items as aprty favors!

Gift Your Personal Running Life Hack

Nothing says “I love you so much” like gifting your own personal favorite running accessories. If there’s something that’s made your run better, share it with your friends!

Fun Galentine’s Day Running Activities

Celebrate Galentine’s Day with activities everyone will enjoy!

Plan a Galentine’s Day-Themed Fun Run

Host a lighthearted fun run where everyone wears festive outfits, like pink or red running gear. Add some playful competition with games like a scavenger hunt or a photo challenge. Pick up fun matching headbands or sunglasses with hearts from the dollar store for a fun themed run! You can find fun decorations on Amazon, here is a cute one!

Post-Run Galentine’s Day Brunch

Enjoy brunch with your gals following the run to refuel and share your favorite memories from run the last year. Enjoy cocktails (or mocktails) with fun running themes like Nuun and vodka. And add an adorable element to your beverages with gummy bears on a toothpick or add edible glitter to your drinks for a little sparkle.

Galentine’s Day Activities for Adults

Whether you’re a runner or a run supporter, consider these activities for inspiring your gal pals!

Host a Galentine’s Day Party: Vision Board Session

Gather your squad for a Galentine’s Day Party by creating vision boards focused on running goals. Set your intentions for the upcoming racing season and inspire each other for the running season ahead. Have everyone bring vision board supplies like magazines, scissors and poster boards (I like the foam boards since they prop up against a wall). Amazon also has vision board picture kits to make your 2025 goal setting so easy. And having everyone create your vision boards together can be a great source of vision board inspiration.

Happy Galentine’s Day!

This Galentine’s Day, take the time to appreciate the women who keep you motivated, both on and off the running path. Whether it’s through thoughtful gifts or fun group activities, let your running squad know how much they mean to you.

Need more ideas, you can always set up a ChatGPT prompt to ask for other great ideas to celebrate with your running squad.
