World Marathon Majors

What are the World Marathon Majors?

The World Marathon Majors, Tokyo, Boston, London, Berlin, Chicago, Sydney, and New York, are bucket list races for runners all over the world. Each one comes with its own unique challenges, from navigating international travel logistics to fundraising for charity entries, and I’ve made it my mission to share tips from my own race experiences.

This section of Run. Wander. Wear. gathers all of my World Marathon Majors content in one place, including destination race guides (like this one for the Chicago Marathon weekend), packing lists, fundraising advice, and personal stories from the start line to the finish line.

Why Do Runners Run the World Majors?

The World Majors are a great way to set travel goals and visit new places around the world. For me, going to Berlin was the first time I’d traveled to Europe! It’s also a great way to learn about how running is included in other cultures and to see the running community from a new perspective. I’ve personally loved how much I’ve experienced as I am working toward earning my own Six Star medal.

Whether you’re running your first Major, running the Chicago Marathon, cheering for a friend, or planning your journey to earn the Six Star medal in the original six marathon races around the world, these resources will help you prepare for a destination marathon, travel smarter, and make the most of every race weekend.
